Terminology
2 Stroke Engine - A compact engine design with the minimum of moving parts which generate a high output power for their size. They are particularly commonly used in small petrol scooters from all Japanese manufacturers such as Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and TGB.
2 Stroke Oil - An oil used in two stroke engines. All 2 stroke TGB scooters automatically add the two stroke oil to the petrol mix at the carburetor so conveniently avoiding the need for manual mixing.
4 Stroke Engine - An engine with valves operated by a camshaft where each spark plug fires every second revolution or forth stroke. Technically more sophisticated than a 2 stroke engine these engines are used in TGB's larger 125cc scooters.
C.D.I. - Capacitor Discharge Ignition. A modern reliable low maintenance ignition system.
C.V.T. - Constantly Variable Transmission. A transmission system common to scooters that allows an infinite range of gearing ratios for optimum scooter performance. TGB are the world leader in this key area of scooter engineering and actually design and manufacture C.V.T. transmission systems for other scooter manufacturers including, Piaggio, Rotax, Peugeot, Minarelli, Morini, Polaris and SYM.
Disc Brake - Standard on the front of all TGB Scooters it offers excellent braking and feel.
Electric & Kick Start - Two means by which a scooter can be started. All TGB scooters have both an electric starter and a kick starter.
Euro 3 - The latest European standard to which all new 125cc and above scooters must conform by November 2007. All new 125cc TGB scooters already meet this requirement.
Forced Air Cooling - The means by which an engine is cooled. Air cooling systems are substantially simpler and lighter than water cooled systems and commonly found on the smaller scooters from the Japanese manufacturers Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha and TGB.
Miles Per Gallon - A measure of the fuel efficiency of a scooter. TGB scooters typically achieve 80 to 100 miles per gallon*
P.D.I. - Predelivery Inspection. Performed as standard on all TGB Scooters prior to delivery to the customer and straightforward simply due to the quality of TGB scooters and the manner in which they are delivered.
Unleaded Petrol - Now by far the most commonly found petrol at UK filling stations it is the standard fuel for all TGB scooters.
